Bellevue Place Education Trust

BPET awarded school capital funding

Each year, the Department for Education allocates funding to help maintain and improve the condition of school buildings and grounds. This is called School Capital Funding (SCA).

Having grown to over 3,000 pupils, BPET now meets the criteria for being classified a large multi-academy trust, and have been automatically allocated £409,000 to invest across our school estates for maintenance and improvement.

This is a huge milestone as a trust, as we will be able to maintain our buildings with allocated funding, without the need to bid for it every year.

There are conditions attached to the use of SCA. For example, the funds cannot be accumulated over time for one big project, but must be used within each financial year (April - March).

BPET will split the allocated SCA as such:

  • 70% on condition surveys
  • 20% for schools to bid for small improvements
  • 10% will be available for ad hoc emergency repairs.

The first portion of funding for the financial year 2024 – 2025 has been allocated to repair the roof of Rivermead Primary School, Berkshire. This project is worth £344,000 and will start in June 2024, with a deadline of completion before September 2024.

The second portion of the funding, £28,000, has been allocated to the redevelopment of Kilburn Grange School’s reception area.
