Mrs Sally Reay, new headteacher at Whitehall Park School

We caught up with Mrs Sally Reay who has been recently appointed as the new headteacher at Whitehall Park School. We asked her a few questions in order to get to know a little more about her vision ahead of her start date in September 2024.

Q: What attracted you to apply for this post?

I was attracted to the post of Headteacher at Whitehall Park School because of its strong reputation for academic excellence and commitment to holistic child development, which draws upon the positive aspects of the public and independent sectors of education, aiming to draw upon the successes of both. The school's ethos aligns perfectly with mine, emphasising the importance of a rigorous academic curriculum, innovative teaching methods, and children's overall well-being. I was particularly drawn to the school's commitment to building strong relationships with parents and the local community, as a collaborative approach is essential for creating a supportive and enriching learning environment.

2. What are you most excited about for your new role?

I am thrilled to join the dedicated staff, supportive parents, and wonderful children at Whitehall Park School. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to contribute with my experience and skills to the school, thereby enhancing the quality of education. Being part of a forward-thinking, innovative trust that strives for greatness is a prospect that excites me.

3. What is your vision for the school, and what do you think you'll focus on first when you start?

My vision for Whitehall Park School is to ensure that every child receives a high-quality education that challenges and supports them to reach their full potential. I envision a school where rigorous academic standards are maintained and innovative teaching methods are embraced. I will prioritise our children's holistic development. Upon starting, I will focus on understanding the school's unique strengths and areas for growth. I plan to engage with staff, parents, and children to gain insights and collaboratively develop strategies that enhance our educational provision and support systems.

4. How well do you know Islington, and how do you think the school can contribute to the local community?

I know Islington through its strong sense of community, rich historical heritage, and a strong emphasis on arts, culture, and community activities. I deeply value and aim to integrate these aspects into the school's ethos. Whitehall Park School has the potential to play a pivotal role in contributing to the local community. Building and nurturing strong relationships with parents, carers, and community members can create a supportive network that benefits our children immensely.

We are looking forward to have you on board Sally!
