Successes of the academic year 2023-24

As the academic year is coming to an end, we decided to reflect on the achievements of our schools.

Well done to all BPET pupils and staff for an amazing year!

Pupil attainment

  • Deer Park School (161), Whiteknights Primary School (193) and Rutherford House School (214) have been mentioned in The Sunday Times top 500 primary schools list (2024). The list is made up by almost 3% of the 16,783 primaries in England, and takes into account pupils' attainment in the 2023 SATs (combined reading, writing and maths), as well as how well schools have helped the so-called “lost generation” to recover after the Covid 19 pandemic
  • Education Minister Rt Hon Damian Hinds MP recognised the exceptional performance of Braywick Court School, Deer Park School, Evendons Primary School, Rutherford House School and Whiteknights Primary School in the Phonics Screening Check, multiplication tables check and Reading, Writing and mathematics Key Stage 2 assessment
  • Braywick Court School and Evendons Primary School were also recognised by the Education Minister as being part of the 200 top performing schools in England for the 2023 multiplication tables check
  • Of the 500 BPET pupils who took their SATs in 2024, 74% reached expected standards in reading, writing and maths combined: this is 13% above the national average (*national data to be verified by the Government in October).

Ofsted inspections

In the 2023-24 academic year, four of our eleven schools underwent Ofsted inspections. Our job as a trust is to make sure that we support and challenge schools to do their best, and that all our pupils learn, enjoy and - as a result - succeed. The results are that:

  • Evendons Primary School's maintained their 'Outstanding'
  • Kilburn Grange School received a 'Good' rating as a result of an ungraded inspection. However, according to their Ofsted report: "The evidence gathered suggests that the inspection grade might be 'outstanding' if a graded inspection were carried out now."
  • Deer Park School maintained its 'Outstanding' rating
  • Halley House School's report is currently waiting Ofsted's processes.

Public figure appearances

BPET

  • We launched our School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme and received 67 applicants and placed 14 trainees in 12 schools
  • The Heights Primary School joined us in December 2023 increasing our family up to eleven schools; altogether we are now educating 3,680 pupils across London and Berkshire
  • We received £135,000 from the government's Turing Scheme to facilitate a residential trip for 93 Year 6 pupils to visit Florence, Montecatini, and Viareggio (Italy)
  • Our trust has been allocated £409,000 by the Department for Education to invest across our estates for maintenance and improvement. This year's allocation of the School Capital Funding (SCA) is being used for a new roof at Rivermead Primary School and to improve the Kilburn Grange School reception area.

We hosted a Summer Celebration event to thank all schools for their relentless focus on rigorous academic standards, constant improvement, and for their focus on fulfilling every child's potential.
